Under the auspicious of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), GESALO organized together with Renac the Exportinitiative Energy, Energy Solutions Made in Germany. Six German companies visited Riyadh in March 2024 with the focus on energy grids and island grids.
The companies had high-level business meetings with government entities and private sector companies from the Saudi electricity sector including the Ministry of Energy (MOE), Principal Buyer | Saudi Power Procurement Company, Saudi Electricity Company, ACWA Power, EVIQ, KAPSARC, Red Sea Global and Ajlan & Bros Holding.
The German companies got insights into the strategic development of micro grid solutions and the expansion of renewable energies (RE) in the Kingdom.
SaudiArabia targets to meet 50pct of its energy demand with locally produced renewable energy by 2030. Therefore, the Kingdom has launched the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP). Under the umbrella of NREP the country is massively expanding the infrastructure for RE production for municipalities and industry. These expansion plans prompt great opportunities for German technology solution providers from the electricity and energy sector.
Moreover, on March 6, 2024, GESALO hosted a German Saudi Symposium on Energy grids with welcome words from H.E. the German Ambassador, Michael Kindsgrab and Delegate Dr. Dalia Samra-Rohte. Besides an inside into the German market from Janosch Christian Hecker, Fraunhofer IPA Institute the German companies had the opportunity to present their technology.
