Saudi Arabia is positioning itself as a new global AI hub and therefore offers opportunities for German companies. AI supports the diversification of the economy, is intended to help build value chains and is a decisive step for Saudi Arabia's economic transformation. In a recent interview with Handelsblatt, Dr Dalia Samra-Rohte, Delegate of German Industry and Commerce for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen, shared her assessment of Saudi Arabia's progress and aspirations in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and its targeted integration into various economic and technological sectors.

As the Handelsblatt reported in an article by Luisa Bomke on 30 June 2025, the Kingdom is currently investing billions to position itself as a global pioneer in AI development.  Saudi Arabia is aiming to be one of the top 15 AI nations in the world by 2030. This goal is being driven by comprehensive measures - including the massive expansion of cloud infrastructures, the promotion of national and international research projects and targeted investments in technology-orientated start-ups.

Dr Dalia Samra-Rohte explains: "Specialists are being recruited specifically for a number of key positions." This is part of a broader strategy to effectively drive AI development. The kingdom is using its favourable energy "to build data centres locally and is actively seeking international partnerships" in order to strengthen the technological infrastructure in the long term.

The GESALO team uses its extensive expertise and many years of experience to support companies in successfully entering the Saudi Arabian market - both in the planning phase and during practical implementation on site. As Dr Dalia Samra-Rohte emphasises: "With our expertise and local contacts, we regularly support companies in entering the Saudi Arabian market." In this way, we ensure that our partners can effectively utilise the Kingdom's diverse potential and achieve sustainable success.
