Shaping a new era of clean energy with green hydrogen at industrial scale

thyssenkrupp nucera offers world-leading technologies for high-efficiency electrolysis plants. The company has extensive in-depth knowledge in the engineering, procurement, and construction of electrochemical plants and a strong track record of more than 600 projects with a total rating of over 10 gigawatts already successfully installed. With its water electrolysis technology to produce green hydrogen, the company offers an innovative solution on an industrial scale for green value chains and an industry fueled by clean energy – a major step towards climate-neutrality.

Our green hydrogen technology (AWE) at a glance

Green hydrogen at industrial scale: We offer proven, efficient and reliable large-scale alkaline water electrolysis (AWE) technology that operates fully automated and minimalizes the total cost of ownership. With more than 50 years of experience in electrolysis and over 10 GW installed capacity in the chemical industry, our chlor-alkali electrolysis technology is a strong base for the high durability of our AWE technology. The compact cell design enables high current density and space savings. Renowned customers have already selected our AWE technology and benefit from our global service network with the best partners.

Our 20 megawatts (MW) alkaline water electrolysis (AWE) unit is setting a benchmark in water electrolysis technology worldwide. Each unit is made up of 4 racks with 74 elements per rack. This standardized solution for green hydrogen production offers high current density operation with an optimized footprint. And it matches highest market demands: The prefabricated AWE units can be easily transported, installed and interconnected to obtain the desired plant capacity, up to several hundred megawatts or even gigawatts as a cost efficient, highly modularized solution for large-scale green hydrogen production. No carbon involved, no CO2 emitted. High quality technologies at industrial scale that can make a decisive contribution to decarbonization and, thus, to improving the climate footprint.
