Export Initiative Energy | Riyadh | March 3-7, 2024

GESALO welcomed six German companies on the topic of energy infrastructure with a focus on energy grids and island grids together with Renewables Academy (RENAC) AG to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The export initiative is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK).

The companies had high-level business meetings with government entities and private sector companies from the Saudi electricity sector including the Ministry of Energy (MOE), Principal Buyer | Saudi Power Procurement Company, Saudi Electricity Company, ACWA Power, EVIQ, KAPSARC, Red Sea Global and Ajlan & Bros Holding. The German companies got insights into the strategic development of micro grid solutions and the expansion of renewable energies (RE) in the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia targets to meet 50% of its energy demand with locally produced renewable energy by 2030. Therefore, the Kingdom has launched the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP). Under the umbrella of NREP the country is massively expanding the infrastructure for RE production for municipalities and industry. These expansion plans prompt great opportunities for German technology solution providers from the electricity and energy sector.

 Symposium on Energy grids

Moreover, on March 6, 2024, GESALO hosted a German Saudi Symposium on Energy grids with welcome words from H.E. the German Ambassador, Michael Kindsgrab and Delegate Dr. Dalia Samra-Rohte. Besides an inside into the German market from Janosch Christian Hecker, Fraunhofer IPA Institute the German companies had the opportunity to present their technology.
