Trip overview

Start: 14.12.2025

End: 18.12.2025

Location: Riyadh and Jeddah, Saudi-Arabia

Saudi Aviation Strategy

As part of the ambitious ‘Saudi Aviation Strategy’, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is planning to invest USD 100 billion in order to comprehensively modernise and expand its aviation industry. A key objective of the strategy is to massively strengthen the tourism sector - with a focus on up to 300 million passengers per year - and to significantly expand the air freight sector.

The growing pilgrimage tourism is expected to serve as an important growth driver. Further focus is on expanding international connectivity: the number of global flight connections is to be increased from the current 29 Saudi airports to over 250 international destinations. The airports in Riyadh (RUH) and Jeddah (JED) are earmarked as future global hubs for long-haul flights and air freight traffic.

Through these measures, the Saudi government aims to make a significant contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) and create thousands of new jobs by 2040.

Market opportunities for German companies

The Saudi aviation industry offers numerous business opportunities. Some German companies, including SMEs, have already successfully positioned themselves in innovative niche areas and contributed to the transformation process.

The following areas, among others, offer market potential:

  •  Construction and expansion of airports
  •  Furnishing of airports
  •  Logistics
  •  Passenger flow management
  •  Consulting in the infrastructure sector
  •  Technology providers and solutions
  •  Innovative solutions in the fields of AI, robotics and digitalisation

Advanced air mobility also offers opportunities. There is a willingness in Saudi Arabia to invest in new technologies and drive forward new forms of mobility.

German technologies in this field are in high demand and have a good chance of establishing themselves on the Saudi market.

Overall, there is potential for German companies to play a central role in the initiated transformation process by contributing expertise, innovation and added value, thus creating mutually beneficial partnerships.

Programme

Seminars and workshops:

German companies will present their products, services and areas of co-operation to a select Saudi specialist audience consisting of representatives from companies, associations and government institutions at seminars and workshops held on site in the target market.
