The GEFA Exportservice GmbH is organising a business trip, on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity (BMLEH), in cooperation with the Chambers of Commerce Abroad in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Food – Made in Germany e. V. association, to Saudi Arabia (Riyadh) and the UAE (Dubai) on the topic of food. The aim of the business trip is to initiate business contacts, exchange experiences, and strengthen ties with local companies and experts.
Market overview and opportunities for companies:
Saudi Arabia and the UAE are particularly attractive for German food exporters because both countries are heavily dependent on imports. Saudi Arabia imports around 80% of its food requirements, while the import quota for food in the UAE is around 90%. This means there is high demand for high-quality imported goods – especially premium or organic foods and convenience solutions. At the same time, both markets offer high purchasing power, growing populations, and modern trade and logistics infrastructures.
