Within the framework of the Market Exploration Program (MEP) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (GESALO), in close cooperation with GATE - The Airport Technology Network – successfully organised a delegation trip to Riyadh and Jeddah.

Driven by Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia’s ambitious transformation continues to advance at a remarkable pace. As part of the Kingdom’s economic diversification strategy, the aviation sector has shown particularly strong growth in airport infrastructure, digitalisation and sustainability.

The trip started off in Riyadh with a series of high-level and insightful meetings. Visits to Riyadh Airports, Matarat Holding and Riyadh Air provided participants with valuable first-hand insights into Saudi Arabia’s aviation strategy, ongoing projects and potential collaboration opportunities.

Further, participants gained a comprehensive market briefing at the GESALO offices held by our Delegate Dr. Dalia Samra-Rohte, our Market Entry Consultant as well as GTAI representative Lucie Kaeppner and H.E. Michael Kindsgrab, the German Ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Moreover, our delegation was kindly hosted by the Ministry of Investment as well as the Public Investment Fund (PIF).

The delegation trip offered participants the unique opportunity to exhibit their companies at the Saudi Airport Exhibition as part of the German Pavillon. This platform enabled the participating companies to engage directly with key Saudi stakeholders, identify potential cooperation partners, and conduct numerous targeted B2B meetings.

The delegation then continued to Jeddah, where participants took part in a roundtable discussion at the Jeddah Chamber, facilitating open dialogue with local decision-makers and industry representatives. Additional site visits and meetings with CATRION and the Head Office of SAUDIA AIRLINES provided deeper understanding of future investment plans.

The trip concluded with a visit to the Consulate General in Jeddah, where the delegation was kindly hosted by Consul General Andrea Christ.
