Saudi Arabia’s rapidly expanding art and museum sector presents significant opportunities for German companies. Participants have already gained valuable experience working in Saudi Arabia and the wider region.

Creating local jobs is a key pillar of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. With a predominantly young population, the training and development of skilled professionals is of particular importance. German know-how and long-standing experience can contribute meaningfully to this goal. In close consultation with the delegation participants, GESALO therefore developed a training concept specifically tailored to the art and museum sector in Saudi Arabia. This was presented to key stakeholders in Saudi Arabia during the delegation trip in November 2025.

In Riyadh, the group was received at a high level over two days from the following institutions: Qiddiya, Expo 2030 Riyadh, Red Sea Global, the Diriyah Biennale Foundation, the King Fahd National Library, the Saudi Ministry of Culture, the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, and the Royal Commission for AlUla.

The training concept received very positive feedback. It will now be tailored more specifically to the needs of the individual institutions – a workshop for selected specialists is planned for the middle of next year.
