Phases 2 and 3 include a symposium and training on this topic. The project is concluded with a brochure that summarizes the results and provides a comprehensive overview of the actors involved in Saudi Arabia and Germany as well as developments in the target country.
The largest single project planned in the area of waste treatment is currently the Al-Dagham Waste Treatment Facility of the Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC) in Riyadh. The facility will be built on a total area of 20 million m² and will include landfill development, construction of medical waste treatment, hazardous industrial waste treatment and sludge treatment plants, as well as infrastructure works.
In a conversation with the Ministry of Water, Environment and Agriculture, SIRC and the German Business Delegation for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen, the Arab side expressed the desire to use German technology and know-how transfer in the area of sustainability. There is great potential for technical service providers and technology providers from Germany who offer innovative and sustainable solutions to support Saudi Arabia in these challenges. In particular, the major projects initiated by the government as part of Vision 2030 prioritize sustainable solutions in all aspects.
The exhibition and market development program on waste management and energy production from biogenic residues and waste materials that took place in June 2022 will be followed up on. The German Business Delegation for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen aims to contribute to building a circular economy and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) together with local stakeholders such as the Ministry of Water, Environment and Agriculture.
