Held on September 9th, 2024, at the Asharqia Chamber in Dammam, the German-Saudi Symposium marked a significant step forward in strengthening economic and trade relations between Saudi Arabia and Germany. This unique and collaborative event brought together industry leaders to explore opportunities, address challenges, and foster partnerships in the valve industry.

Key discussions revolved around innovation, sustainability, and international cooperation, with a focus on advancing the growth and development of the valve industry. Dr. Dalia Samra-Rohte, Delegate of German Industry & Commerce for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Yemen, highlighted the 20% increase in bilateral trade from 2022 to 2024, as well as the growing interest of German companies in Saudi Arabia’s mega projects. Notably, WIKA and AUMA have established regional headquarters in the Kingdom, demonstrating the strength of this collaboration.

Organized by GESALO in behalf of Valve World Expo and Messe Düsseldorf, and supported by the Asharqia Chamber, the symposium created a pivotal gathering to advance the valve industry's future.

Mr. Abdulrahman Albassam, board member of the Asharqia Chamber, played a key role in organizing the event and fostering bilateral cooperation. His leadership and dedication were instrumental in bringing together industry experts from both nations, ensuring a platform for meaningful dialogue and partnership-building.

Mr. Omar Muhammed, representing WIKA, spoke about their efforts to localize operations in Saudi Arabia, supporting the Kingdom’s infrastructure plans by establishing local value chains and strengthening the local workforce. Similarly, Mr. Prasad Durga, from AUMA, shared insights on AUMA’s localization strategy, which includes developing local manufacturing capabilities to meet Saudi Arabia’s growing demand for advanced valve technologies. Both companies are committed to enhancing the local economy and advancing industrial innovation.

Eng. Bandar Alharbi, Vice President for Technical Affairs at the National Water Company, emphasized the critical role of valve technologies in water desalination, a key area for Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure development. The event provided a platform for sharing insights and exploring innovations in water management, energy efficiency, and sustainable valve technologies.

Mr. Daniel Ryfisch, representing Messe Düsseldorf, discussed the opportunities presented by the Valve World Expo, one of the world’s leading trade fairs for industrial valves. He highlighted how the Expo serves as a vital platform for showcasing the latest advancements in valve technologies and offers significant opportunities for both Saudi and German companies to collaborate, innovate, and expand their presence in international markets.

By leveraging German engineering expertise and Saudi Arabia’s resources, the event showcased how collaboration can drive industrial efficiency and sustainability.

Looking forward to seeing the outcomes of this collaboration and the innovations that will shape the future of both nations.
