“Competitiveness in a transforming energy sector" was the title of an engaged panel discussion that was moderated and co-hosted by Sherine Fakoussa from Delegation der Deutschen Wirtschaft für Saudi-Arabien, Bahrain und Jemen at the University of Bahrain on 19th of March 2023.
Representatives from nogaholding, Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat) and the University of Bahrain discussed Bahrain’s energy transformation strategy from an industry and research perspective.
Being an island, cross-border and offshore regional cooperation are crucial for Bahrain’s energy transition to unfold its potential as the plug and play hub for new technologies.
Dr Christine Woerlen from Arepo GmbH shed light on the German energy transition experience to underpin cooperation opportunities between the two countries with regard to lessons learned, localization of the supply chain and technology exchange.
The panel was followed by an extensive Q&A session by the audience.
The event was hosted by the University of Bahrain and organized by the German Embassy of Manama for the organization.
