The German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (AHK Saudi Arabia) in cooperation with GIZ organized the trip of a high-ranking delegation from Saudi Arabia headed by H.E. Dr. Khalid M. H. Al Fuhaid, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, to this year’s Biofach Trade Fair in Nuremberg from 10 to 13 February 2015. The delegation was accompanied by several government officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Saudi Organic Farming Association. Over 2,400 exhibitors and more than 40,000 trade buyers from approx. 130 countries visited Nuremberg for the 26th anniversary in 2015. For the first time the Saudi National Center for Palms & Dates (NCPD) exhibited a variety of its products. The NCPD is a semi-government organization, established by Royal Decree, in association with the Council of Saudi Chambers and the Ministry of Agriculture. It aims to strengthen the support for production of dates and date products by recognizing the date industry in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Focusing on the highest of industrial standards and quality control, and the encouragement of creativity and innovation in production and processing we intend to create a strong and sustainable industry that will be an important part of our economy for years to come. The delegation took part in several forums like “The world of organic agriculture, Statistics and emerging trends” and “The organic market in Germany: facts, figures, analysis”. The trip ended with a dinner on invitation of GIZ Organic Farming Project, Saudi Arabia. GIZ started to support the development of organic agriculture in April 2005. The overall mission of the Organic Farming Project was to establish a functioning and sustainable organic agriculture sector in Saudi Arabia. Within a mere 10 years, the project has turned organic agriculture in the KSA into a success story. The delegation was accompanied by the Head of Trade Fair of the German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs, Mr. Al-Ameen Al-Dalali. Together with VIVANESS, the International Trade Fair for Natural Personal Care, BIOFACH reflects the whole variety of the global market for organic food and natural cosmetics every year. It is an important business event, an emotional event for the organic sector, and both a get-together and an opportunity for positioning. The spectrum of products at the world's leading exhibition for organic food caters for every wish and a top-class congress rounds off the concept of the exhibition. During the three days of BIOFACH 2015, visitors – international buyers, decision-makers and press representatives – from all over the world had the chance to take a closer look onto the most innovative products of the organic sector at the Novelty Stand. Each visitor had the chance to vote for his favorite product in each of the nine categories. Also this year the show “Experience the World of OLIVE OIL” was meeting place for producers on the one side and expert visitors on the other side. During three days, exhibitors had the chance to present their high-quality oil while visitors got the chance to taste it. BIOFACH is distinguished by its vigour, internationality and innovative power. Under the patronage of IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements) and with BÖLW (German Federation of the Organic Food Industry) as national supporting organization, BIOFACH guarantees the constantly high quality of the products on display through strict admission criteria. BIOFACH is present throughout the world with its own events in Japan, the United States, South America, China and India.
