The German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (GESALO) had the pleasure of inviting to the German- Saudi Symposium: Innovations in the Glass Industry.
Natural daylight supports our circadian rhythm, keeps us alert and productive. This is why humans prefer living and working spaces that are flooded with natural light. However, in changing climate buildings need also more air-conditioning due to longer and more intense periods of heat. The glass industry offers solutions in the form of highly selective layered systems that make for both high daylight transmission and thermal protection in summer. To the flat glass industry, the hot topics are right now Circular economy, digital technologies, and decarbonization.
The symposium was opened by Dr. Dalia Samra-Rohte, Delegate of German Industry & Commerce for Saudi Arabia and moderated by Astrid Crookes, Head of Fair Trade Services, GESALO.
Petra Cullmann, Executive Director Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, represented the trend setting platform glasstec and outlined the International Trade Fair for Glass Production, Processing and Products. With its claim “WE ARE GLASS” glasstec underlines its core position being a comprehensive information platform for investment decisions.
GESALO was honored to welcome various guest speaker from the region and for providing a very detailed overview.
Mr Ahmad Houchaimi, Business GM from Al Obaikan Glass, showcasing the current developments in the industry and outlining latest trends in the building construction. Mr Ammar Alul, CEO, Schueco MENA, provided an comprehensive overview on business developments and projects.
Dr. Amir Abdullatif, Managing Director at Tec Fire was presenting first-hand experience out of the glass industry and Mr Maher Hasson, Director of Sales Operation, Guardian Glass Middle East & Africa, outlined the relevance of the glass industry as part of society that is facing up to its responsibility: decarbonization and resource savings.
